CTBR Staff Writer Published 28 October 2015

Vestas has received a 26MW turbine supply contract from Eolus Vind for the Kungsbacka-Iglasjön wind power plant in Sweden.

The contract will require Vestas to supply and install eight units of its V112-3.3MW turbines at the project. It also includes a 5-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.

The company will deliver the turbines in the second half of 2016.

Eolus CEO Per Witalisson said: "I´m very happy with the cooperation we have with Vestas. They have been able to meet the demands and specifications that we have in order to establish the Kungsbacka-Iglasjön wind farm in the challenging Swedish market. Eolus' ambition is to establish wind farms at the lowest possible cost per produced MWh, and good cooperation with leading turbine suppliers like Vestas is key to achieving this."

Vestas Northern Europe president Klaus Steen Mortensen said: "Vestas strives to lower the cost of energy everywhere in the world, and by announcing this order with Eolus, one of our valued customers in Sweden, we show that long-term collaboration coupled with the right turbine technology can provide a very attractive business case."

In addition, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and (MHI) and Vestas, has received a contract to supply 165MW of wind turbine to Nobelwind offshore project in Belgium.

Under the contract, MHI Vestas will supply 50 units of V112-3.3MW turbines in 2016. The turbines will start producing electricity in 2017.
