Vestas wins turbine supply contract from HydroChina

CTBR Staff Writer Published 16 September 2015

Vestas has secured its first turbine order from HydroChina for the latter's Phu Lac wind park in Vietnam.

The contract will require Vestas to provide 12 units of V100-2.0MW turbines for the 24MW wind park, which is said to become the largest Vestas-supplied wind park in the country.

Vestas will also provide a SCADA system for data-driven monitoring and preventive maintenance of the project, under a five-year AOM 4000 service contract.

Additionally, Vestas will supervise the installation and commissioning of the wind park.

HydroChina International president Chen Guanfu said: "The Phu Lac wind park will be an important milestone in Vietnam's nascent wind energy sector and we're confident that Hydrochina's quality EPC service and Vestas' strong track record in emerging markets will ensure the success of the Phu Lac wind park."

The order reinforces the global strategic partnership embodied in the collaboration agreement signed between Vestas and HydroChina in May this year.

Vestas Asia Pacific and China president Chris Beaufait said: "Wind power is an independent, competitive, and clean energy source that helps Vietnam to meet its growing electricity demand, and we have the ambition to closely support the future development of the wind power sector in this market."

In August this year, Vestas secured a contract from German wind power developer wpd to deliver turbines for the Tohkoja project in Kalajoki, Finland.

The Tohkoja wind farm will be wpd's third project in Finland.
