CTBR Staff Writer Published 19 November 2012

Wind turbines manufacturer Vestas has secured an order from greenfield energy developer Farpower for the supply of 13 V112-3.0MW turbines for its 39MW Matisse wind power plant in the Apulia region of Italy.

The facility is expected to produce about 100GWh energy annually, reducing 40,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

Scope of the order includes a 15-year service and maintenance agreement under active output management scheme alongside the delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of the turbines.

Commenting on the order Vestas Italia general manager Rainer Karan expressed confidence in the company being able to deliver high efficiency turbines to the region to ensure cleaner energy for the inhabitants.

Vestas Wind Systems chief sales officer Juan Araluce added, "With its outstanding annual energy production, the V112-3.0 MW delivers the best possible returns at medium and low wind sites at a low cost of energy."

The company will commence delivery of the turbines at the beginning of 2013 with the project expected to commence commercial operations by the end of March.
