Vestas, Alliant sign extended maintenance agreement for 200MW Whispering Willow Wind Farm in US
Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has secured a three-year extension from Alliant Energy to handle servicing and maintenance of the 200MW Whispering Willow Wind Farm in Iowa, US.
The new agreement stipulates that Vestas will monitor and control the 121 V82-1.65MW turbines at the facility to ensure their efficiency under the active output management mode.
Commenting on the extension of the agreement Alliant Energy resource development senior vice president Tom Aller said, "Our company is pleased to partner with Vestas to extend our service and maintenance agreement for our 200 megawatt Whispering Willow Wind Farm - East."
The facility began commercial operations in 2000 currently generates enough electricity to power 50,000 households.
Vestas and Aliiant have also collaborated on three other facilities - Cedar Ridge Farm in Wisconsin; Bent Tree Farm in Minnesota and Franklin County Farm in Iowa - each of which employ the V82-1.65 MW turbines.
