CTBR Staff Writer Published 27 May 2016

US-based Trinity Industries has secured a $940m wind tower order from an unnamed customer.

The company's subsidiary Trinity Structural Towers (TSTI) will manufacture the towers and deliver them over three years commencing in 2017.

At the end of March 2016, Trinity's backlog for wind towers remained at $263.4m.

Trinity senior vice president and group president William A. McWhirter II said: "We are pleased to be awarded this long-term order that extends the backlog for our wind towers business through 2019.

"The talent and dedicated efforts of our business leadership team was instrumental in obtaining this attractive order."

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Trinity Industries is a conglomerate of several businesses serving various industries including energy, transportation, chemical, and construction sectors.

TSTI manufactures structural wind towers in North America. Via its parent and affiliated firms, TSTI also provides various steel turbine components, concrete and aggregates, product transportation and specialized coatings.

TSTI said it can fabricate to turbine manufacturers' designs or work with its customers in the design and fabrication of towers which meet the specific criteria of both the turbine and project location.
