SeaRoc’s SeaPlanner solution to support construction of 396MW German offshore wind project

SeaRoc Group has secured a contract to provide its SeaPlanner solution for supporting the construction of the 396MW Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

GeoSea awarded the contract, which requires SeaRoc to provide integrated personnel and vessel tracking software, and access control hardware.

The company will also install and establish a marine coordination centre located in Eemshaven in the Netherlands.

SeaRoc Group project manager Mick Cooper said: “We’re delighted to have been awarded the contract and are excited to be implementing some of our new functionality on the Merkur project.

“Over the last year or so we’ve been developing a number of partnerships in order to enhance the offering to our clients – we’re delighted to be working with Oceanwise on this project where we will be integrating metocean feeds generated by their various data capture devices.”

The UK based marine engineering firm will take care of the deployment, real-time, tracking of vessels as well as personnel in the development site.

SeaRoc said GeoSea will benefit from the latest upgraded technology of SeaPlanner that features improved mapping functionality, metocean data feeds and integrated helicopter tracking.

Financial terms of the contract were not revealed.

Located nearly 45km north of the German islands of Borkum, in the North Sea, the Merkur offshore wind farm project is a joint venture formed by DEME Concessions Wind and the Windreich Group of companies.

The project comprises 66 turbines which upon commissioned will generate around 1,750GWh of clean energy that is capable of powering nearly 500,000 households.
