Nordex to supply turbines for Jokela wind farm in Finland

CTBR Staff Writer Published 02 December 2014

Nordex has secured a new contract from wpd europe to supply turbines for the 36MW Jokela wind farm in Finland.

The contract requires Nordex to deliver and install 12 N117/3000 Generation Delta wind turbines, each of which features a hub height of 141m and an installed nominal output of 3MW.

Located close to the town of Kalajoki in western Finland, the Jokela project is estimated to generate 119 GWh of energy per year.

Construction on the Jokela wind farm is expected to start in mid-2015 and Nordex will also provide services for 15 years.

wpd earlier ordered 11 Nordex N117/3000 turbines for its Makikangas wind farm, situated next to the Jokela project.

wpd country manager responsible for Finland and Sweden Birgit Schneider said: "On the basis of their technical specifications, the N117/3000 turbines are a very good fit for the local weather conditions and we are eagerly awaiting the preliminary results following the start-up of our "Mäkikangas" wind farm."

"We are confident of having found in Nordex a partner for the two wind farms capable of providing an ideal combination of technology and service."
