CTBR Staff Writer Published 12 April 2012

ACCIONA Windpower, a subsidiary of the ACCIONA Group, has secured a contract from CPFL Renováveis to supply wind turbines for a 120MW wind farm in Brazil.

Under the contract, ACCIONA will supply, install and maintain 40 units of AW116/3000 turbine each with a capacity of 3MW, for the Atlântica wind farm located in Rio Grande do Sul.

The contract covers the supply and field installation of the turbines as well as the operation and maintenance of the wind park for a period of 15 years

ACCIONA Windpower CEO Pedro Ruiz said the contract with CPFL Renováveis opens up a new market of clear commercial interest to the company.

"We are entering Brazil with a strong customer who is one of the country's leading wind power operators," Ruiz said.

ACCIONA Windpower plans to construct a wind power component assembly plant in Brazil.
